The lokta is harvested without destroying the plant and the paper is made without environmental damage to the forests. These exotic papers are hand made, textured and deckle edged. They are traditionally used for ink manuscripts and woodcut prints but can also be used for painting and drawing in many different media. Nepalese Washi Papers hand made from lokta by the Japanese diffusion method. Some with inclusions. In this method the pulp is formed in fine layers onto a silk backed su mould. Washi means Japanese paper and these are Himalayan papers made by the Japanese nagashizuki method.
