Rebecca Wallace and Pip Seymour form the company now known as Wallace Seymour Fine Art Products and as such have created a programme of high quality painting and drawing materials, made under their control and with a shared vision to provide artists with the maximum potential for expression through colour. They have created unique ranges of oil, acrylic, watercolour (tube and pan), gouache, hand-made soft pastel, hand-made drawing materials, primers and painting mediums. They looked at long forgotten colours, alongside ancient and modern pigments to create colour palettes to suit the needs of the most progressive and challenging artists
Our oil colours combine tradition and innovation; we use antique pigments alongside native earths and the standard selection of modern manufactured artist's quality pigments. Each colour is expressed through a unique recipe to provide the artist with the best possible stat point for painting. The painting mediums are carefully prepared using the highest grade raw materials to ensure optimum quality.
Hand made oil colours, prepared carefully to give optimum colour resonance.
Each colour batch is made in small quantities (up to 1 litre per batch), so that each batch of paint produced is unique.
According to the nature of individual pigments, colours may be machine ground, prepared in a hand-milling machine, or simply ground by hand using a glass muller. The colours are prepared into English cold-pressed linseed oil, from a single estate farm. This oil is a limpid golden yellow colour, is free flowing (brush marks tend to settle out of paint films) and pressed without the addition of driers. Because these oil colours are made without drying agents, they dry out according to the nature of the pigments used. We suggest a 10-20% addition of our Fast Drying Oil Glaze Medium, to ensure balanced drying times. The over use of driers can be the cause of failure of paint films, leading to cracking and wrinkling of the dried paint, loss of sheen and excessive darkening.
This set has been chosen especially with outdoor landscape painting in mind, and as such is packaged in a special presentation box; which makes it easy to transport but would also make an excellent gift. It contains smaller sized tubes and the primaries so will function as a palette for other styles of painting as well. It contains some of Wallace Seymour's rarer pigments, so it is also an affordable way to experiment with these colours.
