Founded in 1190 and dissolved by order of Henry the Eighth in 1536, Cartmel Priory was saved from ruin by being adopted as a parish church by the local community. Noted for its asymmetric tower and beautiful architectural and interior features, it is painted here by Alfred from the River Eea to its west.

Set within a a tasteful gold frame.
