Description

Eagle Crag rises like a craggy fortress above Langstrath, Lakeland’s largest hidden valley, accessed from what was once Furness Abbey’s medieval grange at Stonethwaite in Borrowdale. In this view from White Crag by William the late evening sun is dropping to the west, leaving the valley in shadow, but casting the crags high above it into sharp relief against a calm sky. Far below the summit of the Crag, the silver thread of Langstrath Beck runs north to Smithymire Island, and we can also see the stony track into the valley curving up beyond Alisongrass Hoghouse.
