Description

Dedicated to the 7th century Northumbrian king, St.Oswald, Grasmere Church dates largely from the 14th century. Notable for its associations with William Wordsworth, who is buried in the churchyard together with members of his family, the church lay at the heart of a great Lake District mountain parish. It contains a notable sculpture of the Madonna and Child by William Heaton Cooper's wife, Ophelia Gordon Bell.
