Description
Blea Water, tucked under the great downfall of crags and scree on the eastern side of High Street, is one of the deepest mountain tarns in the Lake District. The Romans built a road along the summit ridge of High Street (hence its name), but the lonely valleys east of High Street hide a more intriguing secret - a mountain fort built after the Romans left.
This atmospheric print depicts Blea Water caught in a down-draught of wind from High Street on a day of cloud shadows and sun, from Piot Crag below Mardale Ill Bell,
